Helping your attorney to build your court case

You can help your attorney build the strongest possible case by organizing your documents and evidence early.

For example, in a child custody matter, you may be asked to gather:• Up to 10 clear photographs of your home and the child’s bedroom• Relevant, dated text messages and emails• School records• Medical records

You should also be prepared to provide financial documents, including your most recent W-2 and your last six pay stubs. These may be needed for court or settlement negotiations.

Being organized not only saves time and legal fees—it also helps your attorney advocate for you more effectively.
